Guide for parliamentarians

DCI-Belgium cooperated with the Council of Europe to develop the Guide for Parliamentarians “Visiting places where children are deprived of their liberty as a result of immigration procedures”. Drafted in the context of the CRBB 2.0 project, the Guide is also part of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe’s Campaign to End Immigration Detention of Children.

The Guide aims to equip parliamentarians to carry out efficient visits and to bring immigration detention of children to an end. It gives out practical tips and checklists to help them conduct visits, interview detained children and detention staff. It also provides information on the effects of immigration detention on children and the existing alternatives. The Guide is user-friendly and can be used by any professional eager to prepare a visit in an immigration detention facility where children are held.

The Guide exists in English, French and Arabic.
